Admission into SAS
Student Permit Application is now available on MyLAUSD. Students who reside within LAUSD boundaries, but outside of a designated SAS site’s residential boundaries, may apply for an SAS permit for next year's enrollment. The SAS permit application window opens in October and closes in March. SAS permit selection will occur at SAS sites by lottery after the March deadline, as space is available.
SAS AND non-SAS sites should carefully review the attached memorandum to prepare for parent inquiries regarding the SAS verification, application, and selection process.
NOTE: Students, residing within the boundaries of a designated SAS school who meet eligibility criteria, must be placed in the site’s SAS gifted/talented program (unless the parent has signed a waiver, requesting non-participation, or has selected another program option). No formal application is required for eligible resident students since SAS is the school site’s GATE instructional program.
Parents can access the SAS permit application and list of SAS sites (English and Spanish) on the GATE website at https://achieve.lausd.net/gate under Program Options and Schools for Advanced Studies (SAS).
