Chapter 14, 15, and 16 QUIZ
The principal at Bancroft thinks his students are too fat! And this is unhealthy. He takes a sample of 25 8th grade boys and finds their mean weight is 90 pounds. The standard deviation of weight for 8th grade boys in general is assumed to be 15 pounds.
Make a 95% confidence interval for boys weight and draw the probability distribution. Explain what this means.
Assuming the average weight of 8th grade boys nationwide is 80 pounds, is there statistical evidence to prove the principal is right?
How convincing is the evidence? How do you know?
Explain using the 4 step method.
Based on his research, the principal may decide to change the school. What might he do and what are the possible errors and consequences of his decisions?
