Mandarin I (Period 2)

Course Description

This is an introductory course in Mandarin Chinese, the official language of the People’s Republic of China with over 1.2 billion native speakers! After taking this class, you will be able to speak, read, and write Chinese at a basic level, laying a foundation for future studies in Chinese. We will cover topics like making friends, numbers, talking about family and ordering food at a Chinese restaurant. With China’s rise on the world stage and unprecedented exchange with our own country, it is an exciting time to learn Chinese! This course will satisfy one year of Hollywood High’s two-year world language graduation requirement.

  • a. average price of a mid-range meal for 2
  • b. price of a head of lettuce per pound
  • c. 1.5 liter bottle of water
  • d. gallon of gasoline
  • e. cinema seat for 1 (movie ticket)
  • f.  rent for 1 bedroom apt in city center

     2. Write each in Chinese characters.
