At Hollywood High School, our School for Advanced Studies (SAS) offers high-achieving students a unique opportunity to engage in challenging and enriching academic programs, including the prestigious AP Capstone™ Diploma Program and the cutting-edge Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Biomedical Science pathway.

The AP Capstone™ program, developed by the College Board, is a two-year diploma program that empowers students to become independent thinkers and confident communicators. Through two yearlong courses—AP Seminar and AP Research—students develop essential skills in research, critical thinking, evidence-based argumentation, collaboration, writing, and public speaking.

Why Choose AP Capstone?

Unlike traditional AP courses that focus on content mastery, AP Capstone emphasizes inquiry-driven learning and interdisciplinary exploration, helping students prepare for the rigorous demands of college and career.

Students who complete both AP Capstone courses and score a 3 or higher can earn either:

• The AP Capstone Certificate™

• Or the AP Capstone Diploma™ (by also scoring 3 or higher on four additional AP exams)

These distinctions are highly regarded by colleges and universities across the U.S. and internationally. In fact, many college application forms specifically ask whether an applicant is an AP Capstone student—highlighting the program’s value in the admissions process.
